Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Youth Engagement Coordinator plays a vital role in the design, execution, promotion, and assessment of various programs aimed at youth development. This position focuses on facilitating activities in creative arts, sports, and educational pursuits. Additionally, the coordinator is responsible for overseeing and encouraging participation among club members. This is a part-time role, requiring less than 30 hours per week.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administers, supervises, and evaluates programs and activities to ensure member safety and program quality.
  • Fosters an environment conducive to achieving Youth Development Goals.
  • Recognizes and celebrates member achievements and participation.
  • Keeps accurate records of attendance and involvement.
  • Suggests new program developments and improvements to existing offerings.
  • Encourages and motivates participation in programs.
  • Introduces new members to programs, special events, and club rules regarding safety and conduct.
  • Provides mentorship and serves as a role model for members.
  • Engages in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge, as well as participate in staff meetings.
  • Maintains discipline among club members in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Oversees and trains volunteers and program assistants.
  • Monitors supply inventory and notifies supervisors when restocking is necessary.
  • Ensures that supply areas are organized and that informational displays are current.
  • Completes and submits all required documentation punctually.
  • Identifies and recommends necessary repairs for facilities and equipment.
  • Participates in community outreach and event planning as needed.
  • Collaborates with team members to deliver high-quality programs, assisting in various capacities as directed.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or GED; at least two years of college education preferred.
  • Combination of experience and/or formal training equivalent to a minimum of two years, including:
  • Experience working with youth and knowledge of youth development principles.
  • Formal training and/or experience in engaging youth through educational activities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass a motor vehicle record check.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check.
  • Negative TB test result.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications are preferred.
  • Previous experience in a Boys & Girls Club setting is preferred.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Understanding of youth development concepts and relevant subject matter.
  • Proficient in planning and implementing engaging youth programs, with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to effectively address member concerns, including disciplinary matters, while building positive relationships with youth and their families.
  • Demonstrates professionalism in all interactions and can manage a diverse group of youth.
  • Capable of organizing time efficiently and completing tasks with minimal supervision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Travel between various club sites and community locations is required, adhering to organizational insurance standards.
  • Work hours align with school schedules, requiring evening availability during the academic year, with variable hours during summer and school breaks, including occasional weekends.
