Position Overview: The Rental Sales Representative plays a crucial role in delivering outstanding customer service while managing a robust client portfolio within their designated region, focusing on boosting rental income for Caterpillar and Allied machinery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifies potential clients through various channels, including industry publications, online resources, and networking events.
  • Engages with existing and prospective clients through in-person visits and phone communications to secure orders.
  • Provides pricing information and credit terms, and prepares sales agreements for secured orders.
  • Collaborates with rental staff to ensure product availability and timely deliveries.
  • Maintains accurate records of business transactions and manages expense reports.
  • Facilitates customer training sessions as needed.
  • Inputs new customer information and updates existing client data into the sales database.
  • Builds and nurtures relationships with key stakeholders, including site supervisors and procurement personnel.
  • Addresses and resolves any issues related to product deliveries.
  • Participates in industry trade shows to promote products and services.
  • Advocates for sales initiatives related to rental equipment.
  • Engages in ongoing training to stay informed about Riggs' equipment offerings.
  • Monitors rental sales activities within the assigned territory to report any lost sales opportunities.
  • Ensures long-term customer satisfaction through consistent follow-up and support.
  • Collaborates with various sales teams within Riggs, including parts and service departments.

Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop alternative solutions.
  • Effective team player in problem-solving scenarios.
  • Skilled in managing challenging customer interactions and responding to their needs promptly.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proven presentation skills and a willingness to engage in team meetings.
  • Ability to set ambitious targets and demonstrate resilience in overcoming challenges.
  • Comfortable taking calculated risks to achieve objectives.
  • Respect for cultural diversity and commitment to a harassment-free workplace.
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) preferred, but relevant experience may be considered.
  • 1-5 years of experience in sales or rental within the equipment industry.
  • Ability to interpret safety guidelines and operational manuals.
  • Competence in performing calculations related to sales and commissions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Work Environment:

This role involves frequent travel within the assigned territory, including potential overnight stays. The employee may encounter various environmental conditions and must be able to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally and 10 lbs frequently.
