Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Wholesale Solutions Specialist to join our team at American Family Insurance. This role will provide insurance carrier placement guidance and service to the field, managing a profitable book of business and maintaining strong relationships with the field and partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expertise to facilitate the placement of accounts with admitted and non-admitted carrier partners or brokers.
  • Consult on commercial and personal lines coverages, providing carrier partner options for all coverages in their territory.
  • Oversee a book of business within a geographic territory, accountable for placing profitable business.
  • Analyze submissions and make decisions based on individual risk characteristics, exposure analysis, hazard recognition, and control.
  • Utilize underwriting guidelines to ensure compliance with authority levels and state regulation.
  • Review and analyze relevant underwriting information for risks, including applications, inspections, loss control recommendations, loss history, credit checks, and D&B reports.
  • Price business according to insurance company underwriting and pricing guidelines.
  • Handle new and renewal placement process, including rating or submitting to insurance companies, negotiating with sales/service teams, and obtaining updated customer information.
  • Work with internal staff or carriers to resolve questions and issues related to applications or policies issued by vendors or to obtain guidance on more complex coverages.
  • Assist agents and staff with carrier information and general processes and procedures.
  • Provide field management and agents with vendor product information and support in their sales efforts via an internal sales support team.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency using PC software applications, such as Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook, Excel, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience in account management/insurance placement for commercial and specialty personal lines products.
  • Demonstrated experience placing profitable business.
  • Solid knowledge and application of underwriting concepts and servicing for excess/surplus coverages for all admitted carriers and recognizes when to utilize an Excess and Surplus lines broker.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of brokerage customer service, carrier placement, and policy processing processes, terms, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience using reference materials, reading policy language, and processing rules and procedures.
  • Demonstrated understanding of carrier appetites and market conditions.
  • Demonstrated experience consulting with agents.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
