Job Summary

The Power Origination Consultant will play a crucial role in developing and implementing strategies for the procurement of conventional, renewable, and energy storage resources to achieve long-term power supply objectives for APS.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute successful contractual agreements through purchase power agreements or equity ownership.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure effective solicitations and negotiations.
  • Protect the company's rights and minimize exposure to liabilities through diligent market intelligence and contract planning.
  • Monitor generating resource developments and implement effective solutions for underperformance.
  • Manage contractual arrangements for remedial generating resource performance.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum three years' experience in commercial wholesale power negotiations, power marketing & trading, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of wholesale power contracting, credit and risk management principles, and federal and state regulatory policies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability in negotiation, contract development, business law principles, project management, and economic and financial analysis techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiating, and communication skills.
  • Understanding of APS power system operations, organization, and resource planning functions.
Accountabilities
  • Develop and implement strategies for conventional, renewable, and energy storage solicitation & procurement.
  • Negotiate with outside counterparties for purchase power agreements, energy supply agreements, and other power procurement related contracts.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure effective solicitations and negotiations.
  • Manage and mitigate company exposure to liabilities through proper planning and market intelligence.
  • Develop and implement solutions to resolve contractual issues and problems.
