Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant

At Advanced Home Health Services, we are seeking a highly skilled Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant will provide coordinated occupational therapy to patients of all age groups under the supervision of a Licensed Occupational Therapist.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform services planned, delegated, and supervised by the OT.
  • Participate in the coordination of patient care.
  • Use effective interpersonal relations and communication skills to participate in teaching the patient and family.
  • Complete appropriate documentation in a timely manner.
  • Apply concepts of infection control and universal precautions in coordinating/performing patient care activities to prevent contamination and transmission of disease.
  • Accept clinical assignments that are consistent with education and competence to care for patients.
  • Meet mandatory continuing education requirements; participate in in-service programs.
  • Demonstrate commitment, professional growth, and competency.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of occupational therapy assistant with an Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current Texas State License to practice occupational therapy.
  • Two-year experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Therapy skills as set forth in the Therapy Practice Act and other regulatory agencies.
  • Proof of current CPR and Hepatitis profile.
  • Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is in good working order.

Skills Required:

  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Organized and resourceful self-starter, strong ability to work in a team.
  • Excellent observation, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to do heavy lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, and standing. Prolonged standing and walking required.
  • Works in a health care facility or patients' residence in various conditions; possible exposure to blood and bodily fluids and infectious diseases; ability to work flexible schedule; ability to travel locally; some exposure to unpleasant weather.
  • Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and patient needs and to meet patient/family individualized psycho-social needs. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Pull, push, and/or lift 15-20 pounds on a daily basis. Pull/push pounds on a regular basis. Pulls/push 200 or more pounds on a regular basis.
  • Sits, stands, stoops, squats, walks, and moves intermittently during work hours.
  • Drives in own car to and from patients' home. Work in patient(s) homes as well as agency office.
  • Ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
