Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Occupational Therapist Assistant to join our team at Memorial Hermann Health System. As a COTA, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our patients, working closely with our occupational therapists to develop and implement treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement occupational therapy treatment programs as described by occupational therapists' written plans of care.
  • Provide occupational therapy services under the supervision of occupational therapists, modifying treatments only as allowed by the plan of care.
  • Supervise rehabilitation technicians and others with regards to patient care.
  • Screen patients for possible OT services under the direction of an OT.
  • Monitor patients' conditions and progress towards treatment goals.
  • Motivate and instruct patients/caregivers using appropriate methods.
  • Communicate effectively with patients/caregivers, occupational therapists, and other professional colleagues.
  • Manage time effectively and document appropriately in the medical record.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant or an Occupational Therapist program.
  • Current license to practice Occupational Therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience.
Working Conditions

The position requires occasional to frequent lifting up to pounds and carrying of up to 30 pounds; prolonged standing; frequent walking, stooping, and squatting.

Fine hand dexterity, eye-hand coordination, the ability to receive oral and written communication, and to communicate verbally and in writing are also necessary.

The visual ability to monitor instruments, computers, and equipment, recognize alphanumeric characters, distinguish colors, and observe physical characteristics are essential to this position.
