Job Summary:

The Dermatology Support Specialist is responsible for assisting Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants in delivering expert dermatology medical care to patients. Key responsibilities include greeting and interacting with patients, collecting patient intake information, responding to electronic patient correspondence, performing point-of-care testing, and assisting with surgical procedures.

As a member of the Waccamaw Dermatology team, the successful candidate will have a direct interaction with patients and play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist during dermatological procedures and surgeries, including setting up and sterilizing instruments and completing documentation logs.
  • Assist the Provider with minor surgeries, including skin cancer, cysts, and lipomas.
  • Perform intramuscular and subcutaneous injections and numbing injections.
  • Maintain medical terminology knowledge, especially as it pertains to dermatology.
  • Respond to patient inquiries and messages in a professional manner.
  • Record medical histories, take vital signs, and prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
  • Communicate aftercare follow-up instructions to patients.
  • Perform in-room scribing with medical providers and ensure accuracy in all charting activities.
  • Assist with ordering and inventory of medical supplies.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and protect operations by adhering to HIPAA and OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
  • Provide superior customer service excellence.
  • Remain flexible and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Interact positively and professionally with multiple departments within the practice.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
