Key Responsibilities
  • Draft technical documentation to support purchase, repair, and overhaul of equipment, including statements of work, government estimates, purchase descriptions, repair descriptions, justification for other than full and open competition, and price justifications.
  • Accurately document research required for purchase and repair of equipment and systems.
  • Accurately collect and provide equipment and system information in verbal and written format.
  • Accurately analyze and provide feedback for system/equipment inspection reports.
  • Review and maintain technical data, including sources of supply and salient characteristics of parts, equipment, and material.
  • Research topics such as lead time, quantity on hand, cost to expedite, and whether a vendor has a core exchange program pursuant to a small purchase contract or repair order.
  • Review technical information to verify that vendor-suggested replacement meets fit, form, and function.
  • Review inspection reports to ensure that the recommended work lists items are required and justified.
  • Utilize Surface Forces Logistics Center (SFLC) computer applications and other tools necessary to develop required technical documentation.
  • Assist the Inventory Manager with tracking, investigating, and updating status of Supply Discrepancy Reports, Quality Deficiency Reports, and Mandatory Turn-In.
Requirements
  • Awareness of SFLC information systems and other tools necessary to develop required technical documentation.
  • Proficiency in using the suite of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to clearly speak, read, and write in American English using proper grammar and punctuation.
  • The ability to work independently.
  • Propensity to gain a working knowledge of the following Coast Guard SFLC information systems: Fleet Logistics System (FLS), Naval & Electronics Supply Support System (NESSS), Electronic Asset Logbook (EAL), CG-LIMS STIP, SFLC Central, and other tools necessary to develop required technical documentation.
  • A minimum of three years of applicable experience.
  • Ability to successfully clear a Tier-1 (Public Trust) background investigation.
  • An active USCG or DHS security clearance is desired.
  • Understanding of Coast Guard organization and Mission Support Model is desired.
