Position Overview:

The Safety Compliance Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting, strategizing, and executing safety protocols and procedures in alignment with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA standards. The primary duties of this position encompass the following:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough investigations of accidents, analyze incident reports, identify trends, ascertain root causes, and implement necessary corrective measures.
  • Perform regular safety inspections to detect potential risks and evaluate hazards.
  • Engage with safety representatives at various project sites and insurance firms to ensure adherence to safety standards and best practices.
  • Facilitate quarterly safety briefings.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with project managers, foremen, and construction representatives.
  • Ensure all personnel possess current OSHA certifications, CPR training, and other relevant safety qualifications.
  • Oversee claims management and strive for effective resolution of safety-related claims.
  • Develop and execute Task-Specific Safe Work Plans and Job Hazard Analyses.
  • Issue and manage completed Toolbox Talks.
  • Implement the Health and Safety Plan (HASP) and revise the safety manual as necessary.
  • Guarantee compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Deliver safety training on various topics, including OSHA regulations, rigging and signaling, forklift operation, manlift operation, and confined space entry.
  • Ensure compliance with all mandated OSHA standards and safety protocols, including the provision of essential safety gear such as harnesses, hard hats, and gloves.
  • Stay informed about emerging safety trends and communicate with management regarding necessary updates or acquisitions.
  • Review and refresh safety data sheets (SDS) for hazardous materials.
  • Establish and oversee a safety incentive program to encourage safe work practices.
  • Investigate near-miss incidents and implement preventive strategies.
  • Participate in industry-specific safety committees or organizations.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety drills and exercises to evaluate emergency readiness.
  • Coordinate with external agencies for emergency response collaboration.
  • Provide safety orientation for new hires and subcontractors.
  • Ensure meticulous record-keeping and documentation of all safety-related activities.

Qualifications:

  • OSHA 30 certification (valid within the last five years)
  • CPR certification
  • Training in reasonable suspicion
  • Strong organizational and communication abilities.
  • Self-sufficient, trustworthy, and dependable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to engage in company-wide systems for project management and communication.
  • Relevant certifications and training in occupational health and safety, with the capability to conduct training sessions and provide certifications.
