Job Summary

Pacific University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Athletic Trainer to join our Sports Medicine Department. As an Athletic Trainer, you will play a critical role in providing medical coverage for our varsity and junior varsity athletic programs, ensuring the health and well-being of our student-athletes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer a quality Athletic Training Program for intercollegiate sports, providing care to student-athletes, including prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries.
  • Proactively support students from historically marginalized backgrounds, promoting a culture of inclusivity and equity.
  • Provide general athletic training room services, maintaining a clean and safe environment for student-athletes.
  • Maintain communication with Pacific University's team physician, ensuring seamless medical care for our student-athletes.
  • Provide medical services during practices and competitions, home and away, throughout the academic year and vacation periods as necessary.
  • Assist with the supervision and maintenance of Pacific University's medical facility for athletes, ensuring compliance with NCAA, HIPAA, and NATA guidelines.
  • Provide medical consultation as requested by athlete, coaches, and parents, promoting a culture of transparency and trust.
  • Assist with the provision of medical care for visiting athletic teams, demonstrating exceptional customer service skills.
  • Communicate on a regular basis with coaches about the status of their injured players, ensuring timely and effective communication.
  • Review physical exams and medical histories for each athlete, identifying potential health risks and developing strategies for prevention.
  • Monitor pre-existing health conditions of student-athletes, ensuring compliance with NCAA and NATA guidelines.
  • Prepare and maintain appropriate athletic injury care records and reports, adhering to NCAA, HIPAA, and NATA guidelines.
  • Responsible for communicating to student-athletes and coaches the Department's health insurance policies, ensuring clarity and understanding.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled staff and department meetings, contributing to a culture of collaboration and teamwork.
  • Follow and enforce all Pacific University, NCAA, NWC medical policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and adherence.
Requirements
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree required.
  • At least two years of experience working in athletic training at the collegiate level.
  • NATABOC certification required before beginning employment.
  • Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds, promoting a culture of inclusivity and equity.
  • Registered with the Oregon Health Licensing Board prior to employment.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification required before beginning employment.
  • Ability to work business and extended hours, including evening and weekends, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to work independently and without supervision, with a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain pleasant, efficient, and effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the general public.
  • Ability to manage multiple activities and projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, including computer proficiency.
