Vice President of Human Resources

The Vice President of Human Resources is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team at Whitman-Walker Health, responsible for overseeing the Human Resources department and driving strategic vision for the organization's human resources portfolio. This role requires a collaborative and affirming leader who can create a workplace where patients, community members, and employees can contribute at their highest value to our organizational vision.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement comprehensive human resources strategies to support the organization's mission and goals.
- Oversee the entire talent management strategy, including recruitment, compensation, performance evaluation, and benefits administration.
- Partner with Senior Leadership to advance and foster equity and belonging, including the creation of strategic goals with data-driven metrics to enhance internal and external accountability.
- Develop and maintain current personnel policies, disseminate these through an Employee Handbook and other documents, and provide training to all employees.
- Serve as primary contact for the Union and its representatives, including regular meetings and relationship building; responding to requests for information; investigating and resolving concerns and grievances and providing strategic advice and guidance for collective bargaining.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Human Resources practices, policies, and procedures, including those pertaining to recruitment, compensation, ethics, labor relations, affirmative action, payroll processing, and benefits administration.
- Proven ability to implement compensation, performance evaluation, recruiting, affirmative action, and benefits administration systems as necessary.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills, including the ability to forge relationships with outside organizations, healthcare facilities, vendors, and business leaders.
- Ability to provide HR leadership across the organization to managers and employees as well as guidance to executives in support of the organization's mission.
- PHR or SPHR certification in Human Resources.
- 10+ years of experience working in human resources.
- 5 or more years of experience managing human resources personnel.
- 2 or more years of experience in a healthcare setting.
