Job Summary

Portland Community Reinvestment Initiatives, Inc. (PCRI) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Human Resources Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will provide administrative support and HR-related services to staff, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support employee benefit programs, serving as a liaison for benefit administration.
  • Provide employee relations support to managers and staff, navigating sensitive issues as directed.
  • Protect confidential information and maintain HR's reputation as an objective, helpful, and trustworthy resource for all staff.
  • Support the maintenance of confidential HR files and records system, as well as HR policy manuals and Employee Handbook.
  • Assist departmental directors in performance evaluation systems and recruitment processes.
  • Coordinate relevant meetings with managers, track work-plans, and follow-up disciplinary actions.
  • Answer frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.
  • Perform periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
  • May assist with payroll functions, including processing, answering employee questions, fixing processing errors, and distributing checks.
Requirements
  • A minimum 1-3 years of experience in Human Resources, Benefits Administration, or a related field.
  • Associate degree in business, non-profit management, or human resources preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proactive communicator with the ability to spot potential problems and take steps to prevent them.
  • Experience working with a Human Resource Information System.
  • Experience in Recruitment best practices and following organizational policies and guidelines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.

Work Environment

PCRI employees work on-site and do not have any remote capabilities. This is an on-site role without an option to be hybrid or remote.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to regularly walk up and down stairs up to 8 hours per day.
  • Must have the ability to stoop, twist, reach, and pull.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for up to 8 hours a day.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.
