The Missile Defense Radar Operator (MDRO) role is essential for supporting critical radar operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Long Range Discrimination Radar (LRDR) operations, providing technical services and operational support on a continuous basis.
  • Collaborate with military personnel and contractors to facilitate testing activities, including Development, Test and Evaluation (DT&E), Operational Test and Evaluation (OT&E), and Installation, Checkout and Evaluation (ICE) testing.
  • Engage in LRDR exercises and inspections.
  • Support operational activities by developing and updating LRDR and C2BMC Operator Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Complete all necessary certification training.
  • Provide operational reporting continuously.
  • Deliver daily reports of operational activities as directed.
  • Execute Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) mission tasks and fulfill support requests.
  • Maintain documentation of operations, security incidents, equipment status, authorized software modifications, weather conditions, shift changes, and other significant occurrences in an operations log.
  • Address taskings and support requests from the 18th Space Control Squadron (18 SPCS) and/or the National Space Defense Center, ensuring effective communication with Combined Space Operations Center (CSpOC), MDA, and other external agencies regarding space catalog data and mission status.
  • Oversee training and development initiatives to ensure the technical proficiency of contractor personnel.

Educational and Training Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate's degree is preferred.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in Space Operations, including scheduling, reporting, and management.
  • Prior military or government experience, particularly with Air Force Space Command sensor operations, radar or electro-optical sensors, and space surveillance operations, is highly desirable.
  • Experience in electronics and engineering is preferred.

Compensation:

  • Salary range is approximately $80,000 – $85,000 per year.

Certifications:

  • Completion of the Career Field Education Training Plan for Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC) 1C6XX, Space Systems Operations, or AFSC 13S, Space Operations Officer, or an equivalent government-approved certification.

Supervision:

  • This position reports to the Missile Defense Radar Operator (MDRO) Lead.

Work Environment:

  • The selected candidate will operate in a computing center environment, which may require extended hours or weekend work.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Capability to sit and work at a computer for prolonged periods.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must currently hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain the appropriate US DoD issued security clearance, which necessitates US Citizenship.
  • Employment is contingent upon receiving the required US DoD issued interim security clearance.
