Martine Law is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Family Law Paralegal to join our team. As a Family Law Paralegal, you will play a critical role in supporting our attorneys in managing family law cases from inception to resolution.
Key Responsibilities- Case Management: Manage family law cases, including divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, and adoption matters.
- Document Preparation: Draft and prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, affidavits, subpoenas, and discovery responses.
- Client Communication: Serve as a point of contact for clients, providing updates on case status and answering questions.
- Legal Research: Conduct legal research on family law issues, including state and federal regulations and case law.
- Court Filings: File legal documents with the appropriate courts, ensuring compliance with local rules and procedures.
- Discovery Process: Assist in the discovery process by drafting discovery requests, responding to discovery, and managing the production of documents.
- Mediation and Settlement Support: Coordinate and prepare for mediation sessions, including preparing necessary documents and exhibits.
- Trial Preparation: Assist attorneys in preparing for trials, including witness preparation, organizing exhibits, and preparing trial binders.
- Billing and Administrative Tasks: Track billable hours and prepare time entries for client billing.
- Educational Background: Associate's degree or certificate in paralegal studies from an ABA-accredited program (Bachelor's degree preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a paralegal, with a strong preference for family law experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and case management software.
- Legal Knowledge: In-depth understanding of family law statutes, regulations, and court procedures.
- Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and court personnel.
- Competitive Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 yearly.
