- Assist Midway facilities and corporate engineering in tackling complex issues.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to plant quality engineers, fostering a robust problem-solving culture within Midway.
- Lead and engage in addressing escalated customer quality issues, collaborating closely with both customers and suppliers as needed.
- Step in to support individual plants when additional quality function assistance is required, working alongside plant Quality Managers.
- Facilitate the adoption of best practices across facilities and implement new corporate and plant quality policies and procedures.
- Develop and support weld testing protocols for Midway locations.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on customer warranty data trends.
- Collaborate with Product Engineering to establish goals for warranty reduction and prevention.
- Design and manage reliability information systems for failure analysis and process performance enhancement.
- Contribute to the development and evaluation of DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, and PFMEAs.
- Participate in APQP initiatives at the corporate level, providing technical insights to mitigate potential product issues during design and launch phases.
- Engage with customers and suppliers regarding new product launches and problem resolution as required.
- Review and interpret laboratory product testing and inspection results as appropriate.
- Recommend enhancements to products and processes aimed at cost reduction and quality improvement.
- Support plants with product testing recommendations to ensure ongoing process capability.
- Perform other essential functions as necessary.
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field; a graduate degree and/or ASQ RE certification is preferred.
- A minimum of five years of experience in automotive reliability, warranty, and/or quality assurance.
- Proficient in applying statistical methods and reliability theory in industrial contexts.
- Proficient in computer applications.
- Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Exceptional technical report writing abilities.
- Familiarity with basic blueprint reading, part tolerances, GD&T, and application of Customer Engineering Specifications.
- Standard office setting.
- Typical laboratory and testing environments, requiring personal protective equipment; familiar with hazards associated with lab and testing settings.
- Standard manufacturing environment, involving travel to plant sites; requires personal protective equipment and awareness of manufacturing-related hazards.
