This distinctive role is for a Clinical Unit Supervisor at the Extended Recovery Unit, part of the esteemed Center for Brain Injuries managed by HMH/JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute. This program specializes in the care and rehabilitation of individuals with traumatic or acquired brain injuries, contributing to a comprehensive continuum of care that includes acute rehabilitation, subacute rehabilitation, and outpatient cognitive services. Our rehabilitation program is accredited by CARF.

We are in search of a seasoned RN who is enthusiastic and dedicated to assisting individuals with traumatic or acquired brain injuries and other neurological conditions. Prior experience with brain injury-related disorders and neurological impairments is preferred. The selected candidate will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and contribute to the development and enhancement of programs as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

A typical day for a Clinical Unit Supervisor at Hackensack Meridian Health involves:

  • Assessing and evaluating staff performance to ensure high-quality care delivery.
  • Ensuring staff are well-informed about patient care protocols and equipment usage.
  • Orienting new hires to unit policies and procedures.
  • Collaborating with an Interdisciplinary Team to guarantee the provision of quality services.
  • Participating in weekly patient care rounds.
  • Ensuring all necessary documentation complies with state and federal regulations.
  • Engaging in the Facility Performance Improvement Program.
  • Attending all mandatory meetings as directed by the Director of Nursing.
  • Participating in the recruitment process as needed.
  • Implementing disciplinary actions for staff when required.
  • Conducting monthly communication meetings for all shifts and care conferences with patients, families, and the Interdisciplinary Care Team.
  • Being accountable for the 24-hour patient care provided in the assigned unit.
  • Assisting the Director of Nursing as required.
  • Being on-call for one weekend per month.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Completion of an accredited RN program.
  • Current with all Continuing Education (CE) requirements.
  • Ability to perform clinical care with professionalism.
  • Act as a patient advocate and a role model for other team members.
  • Deliver patient care with minimal disruptions.
  • Capability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in long-term care facilities.
  • Prior experience working with geriatric and disabled populations.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.
  • BLS Basic Life Support certification.
  • IV Certification.
