The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Nurse Specialist at NavitsPartners is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care to critically ill pediatric patients. This role involves evaluating patient needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and collaborating with physicians to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate patient needs and establish priorities for care through comprehensive assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
- Develop and coordinate individualized care plans for assigned patients through initial and ongoing assessments.
- Initiate assessments based on the patient's condition, physician's diagnosis, and functional health framework.
- Perform therapeutic nursing interventions and manage patient care.
- Document care provided according to standards of care, patient acuity, and clinical priorities.
- Advocate for evidence-based practice standards and support the adoption of innovative care practices.
- Deliver patient-centered care in alignment with professional nursing practice models.
- Fulfill float requirements throughout the facility, including Adult units where the RN will act as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) rather than taking full assignments.
- When required, float to Mother/Baby, Pediatric ED, and other hospital floors as a resource nurse or extra support.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical pediatric experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in PICU.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association.
- Ability to float to various units within the facility, including Adult units where the RN will act as a PCT.
- Education: Required: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Current licensure by the New Jersey State Board of Nursing.
- Certifications & Licensure: Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association. Valid NJ or Compact RN License.
- Languages: English (Speak, Read, Write)
