Account Executive Director, Ocean Marine Underwriter

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Lines Underwriting Director to join our Ocean Marine Specialty team at THE TRAVELERS INDEMNITY COMPANY. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business, comprised of complex accounts.
Key Responsibilities- Underwrite and negotiate complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal partners to create sales plans and identify cross-selling opportunities.
- Foster and maintain relationships with external partners, including agents and brokers, to market and sell Travelers products.
- Identify and capture new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales skills.
- Develop and execute agency sales plans, partnering with the Managing Director to develop region/group sales plans.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and strategic counsel on underwriting to all levels of underwriters within the region or business unit.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Eight to ten years of relevant underwriting experience with experience in commercial lines.
- Expert level knowledge of Ocean Marine products, the regulatory environment, and the local insurance market.
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to proactively identify underwriting, marketing, or financial challenges.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to successfully negotiate in difficult situations.
- CPCU designation.
