Chubb is seeking a seasoned professional to lead our Property Underwriting and Distribution efforts in the New York Region. As AVP, Regional Property Underwriting Manager, you will be responsible for driving profitable growth, fostering internal and external relationships, and overseeing the middle market Property branch underwriting operation.
Key Responsibilities- Profit and Loss Accountability: Directly responsible for the profit, growth, and retention of the middle market Property business in the New York Region.
- Portfolio Management: Direct profit and loss responsibility for field (middle market) business; coordination, agency management, and production responsibility across CI Property product portfolio.
- Underwriting Strategy Execution: Manages execution of new middle market underwriting and renewal underwriting strategy for Property.
- Technical Underwriting/Referral Resource: In collaboration with Product, serves as technical resource for referrals and underwriting authority.
- Quality Assurance: Monitors underwriting quality with the Self Audit process.
- Marketplace Focus: Develop opportunities particular to the marketplace and provide customized approaches on market conditions and agency needs.
- Business Development: Directs business development activities and provides guidance for implementing sales and/or product launches.
- Producer Management: Primary responsibility for managing regional/local producer plant; responsible for cohesive and consistent agency management strategies across assigned locations.
- Staff Development and Staff Administration: Accountable for new hire onboarding, training and developing, succession planning, culture of inclusion, coaching and mentoring and retention of staff.
- Understanding of middle market Property products and appetite
- Understanding of middle market Marine products and appetite, a plus
- 5+ years of Property experience preferred
- Strong understanding of field distribution plant (broker, regional, independent agents)
- Strong people management skills
- Strong technical/underwriting leadership skills to manage a team of multiline commercial underwriters
