Global Logistics Director

Akebia Therapeutics is seeking a seasoned Director, Global Logistics to lead the development and execution of logistics strategies that support our global commercial and clinical supply chains.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement logistics strategies aligned with Akebia's business objectives for all commercial and clinical products.
- Oversee international transportation, warehousing, and distribution to ensure efficient, timely delivery and cost-effective operations.
- Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers and carriers, third-party storage facilities, and other supply chain partners.
- Develop risk scorecards, identifying global supply chain risks and developing contingency plans to mitigate risks and ensure business continuity.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate logistics activities and ensure compliance with international regulations.
- Establish and use key performance indicators (KPIs) and analytics to monitor logistics performance, manage global inventory levels, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Implement logistics technology solutions to improve visibility and data management.
- Develop strategies to reduce the environmental impact of logistics operations.
- Lead and develop a high-performing logistics team, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in global logistics and supply chain management, with 5+ years in a leadership role, preferably in the biopharmaceutical industry.
- Strong knowledge of international logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution.
- Proven experience managing logistics for both clinical and commercial supply chains.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data for decision-making and optimization.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements in the biopharmaceutical industry.
