Role Overview:

The Human Resources (HR) division is dedicated to crafting and implementing initiatives that assist employees, supervisors, and executives in attracting, nurturing, and retaining a workforce aligned with the Laboratory's objectives. As a vital member of HR Operations, you will contribute to addressing significant challenges through strategic HR solutions aimed at overcoming talent-related obstacles. The HR Operations (HR-OPS) Group seeks a meticulous and driven individual to join our team. The primary function of this role is to deliver exemplary customer service and operational excellence for various appointment types at Los Alamos National Laboratory. This position necessitates collaboration with systems analysts, applicants, employees, and managers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the initial point of contact for accurately resolving inquiries and requests from employees and managers via phone, email, or the HR Portal.
  • Provide service-oriented support by effectively triaging, resolving, and/or escalating cases by utilizing information from multiple systems. Access the knowledgebase and established policy documentation to address inquiries. Refer calls for advanced support and ensure follow-up as necessary.
  • Conduct administrative tasks in support of HR functions, including data entry, filing, maintaining personnel records, and sending correspondence.
  • Safeguard sensitive information and ensure the confidentiality of personal data during all transactions and while addressing employee inquiries.
Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
  • Proven interest in customer service and delivering high-quality support. Experience with HRIS (e.g., Oracle, ticketing systems, call center software).
  • Experience in updating employee and applicant data, initiating transactions, and ensuring data consistency and integrity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for running, exporting, and manipulating reports, including sorting, filtering, and creating pivot tables.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with precision and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.
  • Experience in handling confidential information and protecting Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
  • Record of reliable attendance and experience in customer interactions.
  • Demonstrated success in both independent and collaborative team settings.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to independently research, coordinate, and propose solutions to moderately complex issues.
  • Specialized experience in areas such as:
    • Workforce administration and processing complex transactions
    • Benefits, leave of absence, and retirement transactions
    • Educational assistance programs
    • Background check processes
    • Onboarding and New Hire Orientation
  • Experience in process improvement initiatives and cross-functional teams.
  • Capability to manage competing priorities, think strategically, and demonstrate initiative and creativity.
Education/Experience: Typically requires a minimum of two years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
