Western Express Workers' Compensation Specialist

As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring seamless management of workers' compensation claims within our organization. Your expertise will be instrumental in collaborating closely with associates, management, insurance providers, and legal experts to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage workers' compensation claims from initiation to resolution, including reporting, investigating, and tracking claims.
  • Provide guidance and support to associates regarding workers' compensation issues, serving as the main point of contact throughout the claims process.
  • Collaborate with HR, supervisors, and injured associates to ensure accurate and timely reporting of all workplace injuries and illnesses.
  • Liaise with insurance providers, legal professionals, and healthcare providers to facilitate the timely processing of claims and effective communication between all parties involved.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all workers' compensation claims, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company policies.
  • Coordinate and schedule medical appointments, evaluations, and treatments for injured associates as necessary.
  • Monitor the progress of injured associates' recovery and provide regular updates to relevant stakeholders, including HR, supervisors, and insurance providers.
  • Document telephone conversations, witness statements, medical reports, and accident investigation results.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews of workers' compensation claims data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Stay current with changes in workers' compensation laws and regulations to ensure compliance and recommend policy or procedure changes as needed.
Requirements:
  • Strong understanding of workers' compensation laws, regulations, and processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information to both associates and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple claims simultaneously and to meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and documentation.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills to assess and determine the validity of workers' compensation claims.
  • Proficiency in using computer software (Excel, MS Word, Outlook) and databases to track and report on claims.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating with various stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field.
  • Previous experience in workers' compensation claims, administration, or a related role preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local workers' compensation laws and regulations.
  • Certification in workers' compensation administration, OSHA, or a related field is a plus.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and understanding of healthcare processes related to workers' compensation claims.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to empathize and provide support to injured associates.
  • Experience working with insurance providers, legal professionals, and healthcare providers related to workers' compensation claims.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Due to the collaborative nature of the work environment, the spontaneous need for idea generation and execution, and the potential for expedited remediation's, responses, or information gathering, in-person, in-office attendance is an essential function of this position.
