Position Summary
As a Custom Applicator, you will play a vital role in enhancing agricultural productivity in your local area. This position allows you to work independently while making a significant impact on the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop strong relationships with local farmers to understand their chemical and fertilizer requirements.
- Efficiently manage field operations by operating sprayers and airflow machines, ensuring safe and accurate application of products.
- Gain hands-on experience with various machinery and routine equipment maintenance.
- Under general supervision, apply fertilizers and crop protection products, utilizing high clearance sprayers or floaters as necessary.
- Deliver products to customers while maintaining a courteous and professional demeanor.
- Educate clients on the products being applied, techniques used, and ongoing support available.
- Assist sales staff in verifying order accuracy and meeting customer needs.
- Conduct warehouse duties, including operating loaders and forklifts, and performing maintenance tasks.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations, including pre-trip and post-trip reporting.
- Maintain cleanliness of vehicles and work environments, completing daily maintenance inspections and ensuring proper equipment upkeep.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in Agriculture Production, Operations, or Application.
- Must meet age requirements.
- CDL and DOT medical card maintenance or acquisition is necessary.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
- Availability for additional hours, overnight stays, and occasional weekends to meet operational demands.
- High School diploma or GED is preferred; Tanker and Air Brake endorsements are advantageous.
- A background in agriculture and customer service is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Capability to climb ladders, stairs, and bins, and access the back of trailers.
- Willingness to work in dusty conditions and adverse weather.
