Mission

Reeves Construction is in search of a Construction Project Leader with experience in heavy highway construction and asphalt paving. The Construction Project Leader will oversee and manage assigned projects, ensuring they are executed safely, profitably, and within the established timelines. This role involves negotiating with vendors, managing budgets, and adhering to schedule requirements.

Main Responsibilities
  • Ensure project success, focusing on safety, timelines, profitability, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Engage in business development activities, including client interactions, relationship building, proposal preparation, presentations, and negotiations for selected projects.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Understand and manage prime contract terms, contract documents, subcontract agreements, and purchase orders.
  • Prepare and review estimates, including project review meetings that analyze contract requirements, general conditions, schedules, budgets, and agreements.
  • Collaborate with the Project Superintendent to determine the means and methods necessary for successful project execution.
  • Coordinate with the Project Superintendent and Project Engineer to align procurement schedules and prevent delays or changes.
  • Utilize available reports to manage costs and generate accurate cost projections.
  • Review and process all change orders, supplements, and budget adjustments.
  • Manage billing processes to ensure timely submission of payment applications and collection from clients to maintain a healthy cash flow.
  • Ensure timely preparation and execution of purchase orders and subcontracts, including insurance certificates, bonds, and lien waivers.
  • Complete project close-out requirements and punch lists efficiently.
  • Provide constructive feedback to estimators for future bidding and negotiations, particularly regarding subcontractor performance evaluations.
  • Ensure all work products meet industry standards and comply with applicable specifications and requirements.
  • Offer ongoing training and mentorship to entry-level and mid-level engineers to foster professional development.
Requirements
  • Prior experience in asphalt paving, grading, and storm drainage (preferred)
  • Experience in project management (preferred)
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, preferably in construction management
  • Proficient in estimating within a paving or construction environment
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to engage with external and internal clients and partners in a fast-paced, multitasking environment, demonstrating high-level problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Excel, HCSS/JDE, and familiarity with estimating software is advantageous
