Job Title: 3rd Shift Experienced Machine Operator

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced machine operator to join our team at Gehl Foods. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and observing production line equipment to ensure food safety, product quality, and conformity to customer standards and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with Gehl Foods safety standards and applicable regulatory requirements while following the company's Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
  • Operate and observe production line equipment to ensure food safety, product quality, and conformity to customer standards and specifications
  • Become proficient in Sterilize-in-Place (SIP), operation, and/or Clean-in-Place (CIP) of assigned filler
  • Perform basic clean, inspect, and lube functions, including basic Preventative Maintenance (PMs)
  • Actively participate in start-up, troubleshooting/adjustment, stop/reset, and shutdown of line equipment - Clear jams and report malfunctions to Business Lead/Supervisor as necessary
  • Perform changeovers - Complete line clears and accurately set up next item's packaging and coding
  • Report out-of-standard/specification results to the Quality Department and Business Unit Lead/Supervisor
  • Report unsafe conditions or other compliance issues to the Business Unit Lead/Supervisor
  • Complete handwritten instructions and online documentation, including Quality and Critical Control Point (CCP) checks accurately and at the required frequencies
  • Maintain accurate and detailed work logs (including Factory MES data collection) and inventory records
  • Monitor and review inventory and production levels to achieve the most efficient operating conditions
  • Maintain assigned work area and production environment in a clean, orderly condition - Complete environmental cleaning requirements as necessary
  • Actively participate in shift exchanges and work team meetings
  • Safely operate forklifts as needed to keep assigned work area supplied with necessary production materials
  • Complete training/eLearning as required, including but not limited to New Employee Onboarding (NEO), Lean Overview, Aseptic Workshop, Chemical Safety, Flow Diagram, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • 6 months previous manufacturing, packaging, or assembly line production experience
  • Demonstrated organizational and observational skills, and detail-oriented
  • Basic mathematical calculation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, and listen to written and oral instructions in the English language
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment under limited supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations by promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting of diversity

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of previous filling, packaging, or processing production experience - Ideally in food, food processing, high-speed packaging, or Form-Fill-Seal (FFS) industries
  • High school or equivalency diploma
  • Previous forklift experience
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  • Proficiency using a personal computer (PC) and related software - Ideally Microsoft Office Tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Technical knowledge of aseptic filling/processing
  • Have the physical ability to frequently lift/carry/push/pull up to 50lbs, reach overhead, climb, squat/bend/kneel, sit, and regularly stand and walk/move about
