Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Packaging Operator to join our team at Gehl Foods. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of high speed packaging equipment, including the Palletizer and De-palletizer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform essential functions and operation of the Palletizer and De-palletizer.
  • Complete machine set ups, change overs, tooling changes, adjustments and troubleshooting related to the operation of one or more packaging machines.
  • Maintain line efficiencies at designed rate and the standards to meet quality and customer requirements.
  • Perform general light maintenance and troubleshooting of machines and related equipment.
  • Communicate with team members at shift changes to ensure smooth operation.
  • Enter equipment downtime and reasons into the MES data system promptly.
  • Maintain quality and production documentation.
  • Verify product matches the production schedule and complete inventory documentation.
  • Monitor bottle, carton and case codes to ensure proper packaging and quality standards.
  • Report out of standard results to the Quality department and supervisor immediately.
  • Report unsafe conditions or other compliance issues to assigned Line Lead and/or Supervisor.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Use fork truck efficiently and safely as needed.
  • Retrieve and maintain product from the ASRS storage area.
  • The individual will be required to lift 50 pounds, bend, climb stairs and stand the majority of their shift.
  • Ensure required competencies to carry out these job functions affecting product legality, safety and quality are met in accordance with the Quality Policy and the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) Standard.
  • Ensure compliance with Gehl safety standards and with applicable regulatory requirements while following the company's Good Manufacturing Practices.

Requirements:

  • 6 months of high speed Packaging or Assembly line production experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated organizational, detail orientation and observational skills.
  • Basic mathematical calculation skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills to interact with employees.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, multi-tasking and often with limited supervision.
  • Basic understanding of GMPS', HACCP and SQF guidelines.
  • Good mechanical aptitude to relate to and understand the equipment.
