Position Overview:

As an Educational Social Services Specialist at Mount Prospect Academy, you will play a vital role in supporting the emotional and social development of students. Your commitment to fostering resilience and growth in young individuals will be essential to our mission.

This position offers a structured workweek from Monday to Friday, with no weekend obligations, and provides a competitive salary range of $52,000 to $58,000.

In your capacity as an Educational Social Services Specialist, you will collaborate with a diverse team of mental health professionals, working closely with students, families, and educational staff to address their specific needs and promote personal development.

Your responsibilities will include delivering behavioral, emotional, and educational counseling to individuals and groups, assisting students in their adjustment to school and community life, and acting as a liaison with external agencies for our day students enrolled in our academic programs.


Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with the Individual Education Plan (IEP) team to monitor student progress on counseling objectives.

2. Develop and update Individualized Crisis Support Plans for each student, created during the initial enrollment week and revised regularly based on student needs.

3. Provide clinical support that emphasizes personal strengths and challenges, helping students develop adaptive strategies for success through a skills-based approach.

4. Write and present comprehensive case conceptualizations to faculty, families, and administration.

5. Establish a positive therapeutic rapport with students and faculty, while promoting a trauma-informed approach within the educational environment.

6. Utilize the Restorative Justice Planning process to encourage student accountability and foster a positive academic community.

7. Create individualized plans for each student and maintain documentation of student participation and behavior through daily case notes.

8. Ensure clarity, continuity, and confidentiality by maintaining student files in accordance with established protocols and policy guidelines.

9. Coordinate communication between families, schools, and other stakeholders to support a holistic treatment approach.

10. Facilitate weekly Treatment Team meetings to assess student growth and progress.

11. Document all collateral contacts, including telephone and email communications related to treatment.

12. Oversee bi-weekly reports and monitor trauma-informed communication between the school and external contacts, including data review with the academic team.

13. Provide individual and group counseling services, ensuring all treatment documentation is completed within prescribed timelines.

14. Attend all relevant meetings focused on the identified student as necessary.

15. Develop and maintain relationships with community, governmental, and other public and private resources, including participation in professional organizations.

16. Conduct trauma training for faculty as part of the annual academic training calendar.

17. Support crisis intervention efforts within the educational setting.

18. Conduct safety assessments for suicidal or homicidal behaviors, consulting with other clinicians as needed.

19. Maintain student confidentiality and report pertinent information to academic administrators.

20. Represent Mount Prospect Academy professionally while collaborating with external stakeholders.

21. Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

22. Engage in ongoing research of current Evidence-Based Practices to enhance personal, professional, and program development.

23. Commit to lifelong learning and professional development, including plans for licensure and certification with the NH DOE and other professional goals.

24. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in social work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or a related field is required.

- Licensed or in the process of obtaining licensure through the NH Department of Education and NH Board of Mental Health Practice.

- NH DOE Certification in School Social Work is required.

- A minimum of 2 years of experience counseling adolescents and families is necessary.

- A criminal history background check is required for this position.


Physical Demands & Work Environment:
This role requires prolonged periods of sitting or standing, occasional stooping, bending, and reaching. The ability to travel occasionally and work in noisy and crowded environments is essential. Regular attendance and physical presence at the job are mandatory.
