Position Overview:
As a vital member of our team, you will engage in a range of geological and environmental activities. Your role will involve fieldwork and travel to various project sites, with the expectation that over time, your responsibilities will transition to more office-based tasks as you advance in your career.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct field and office tasks applying geological and environmental science principles.
- Perform environmental sampling of soil, surface water, groundwater, and sediment.
- Classify and sample soil during drilling and excavation operations.
- Supervise drillers and subcontractors to ensure project success.
- Prioritize health and safety in all field projects.
- Document field activities, including hazard analyses and sampling records.
- Assist in geological and environmental analysis, including hydrogeology and geochemistry.
- Interpret environmental sample results in relation to geological contexts.
- Create visual representations of environmental data, including maps and cross-sections.
- Prepare reports on completed fieldwork and provide guidance to junior staff.
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure timely and budget-conscious project completion.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Geology or a related discipline, along with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and standards.
- Ability to work in a hybrid setting, balancing time between office and field locations.
- A valid driver's license and willingness to travel to field sites.
- Physical capability to perform tasks requiring extended periods of standing and walking on uneven terrain.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
