Position Overview

Are you skilled in mechanical tasks and enjoy hands-on activities? Do you appreciate a flexible work schedule and the autonomy of working independently while still having team support? The Equipment Service Technician is responsible for conducting effective on-site preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, equipment modifications, and installation assistance on intricate mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electronic units, primarily within a hospital setting that operates under strict regulations and time constraints.

Individuals with backgrounds in HVAC repair, mechanical maintenance, refrigeration, boiler systems, chillers, equipment repair, automotive repair, aviation repair, plumbing, and electrical work often excel in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute fundamental troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance on STERIS and competitor equipment, systems, and components.
  • Effectively manage time by prioritizing Customer and business needs and schedules independently to fulfill PM performance, service calls, warranty requests, equipment installations, field upgrade programs, and additional responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Technical Support, Engineering, and Service Contract Management) to appropriately escalate issues and utilize advanced technology platforms to meet compliance regulatory requirements, as well as resolve and document troubleshooting challenges.
  • Provide Customers with information, pricing, and repair options. With managerial support, cultivate relationships with Sales to enhance Customer experience and revenue opportunities. Learn to identify sales prospects within the designated territory.
  • Offer support to various locations within the assigned territory based on service agreements and Customer requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 4 years of work experience, including 2 years of mechanical/technical experience (mechanical, electrical, HVAC, automotive, IT).
  • Experience in Customer and team engagement.
  • Basic computer proficiency (MS Windows/email, navigation, mobile applications, data entry into multiple systems).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to meet all required background and physical assessment criteria to obtain and maintain existing and new vendor credentialing requirements.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overnight travel as needed based on geographical district.
  • Capability to establish an effective home office (high-speed internet, conducive workspace, secure company-owned equipment and information).
