Position Summary: The On-Call Technician plays a crucial role in providing direct client support while working independently in various locations. Responsibilities include maintaining computer systems, diagnosing issues, ensuring internet connectivity, conducting diagnostic assessments, managing servers, repairing hardware, and offering technical assistance. Additionally, the technician may be tasked with the installation and configuration of television, surveillance, automation, and network systems primarily in residential settings, but also in commercial environments.

Compensation: This is a 1099 independent contractor role. Technicians are responsible for their own tools, vehicle, valid driver's license, and vehicle upkeep. Reimbursement for gas exceeding 20 miles (one-way) and other site-related expenses will be provided. Compensation ranges from $35 to $40 per hour for on-site work and parts supplied to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in Technical Support.
  • Configuration of email accounts using various platforms.
  • Proficient in Windows operating systems.
  • PC imaging, hardware diagnostics, and configuration.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, routers, wireless access points, and other networking devices.
  • Experience with spyware/adware removal tools and antivirus software.
  • Comfortable with all aspects of PC and laptop hardware setup and maintenance.
  • Preferred experience with Mac systems.
  • Installation and setup of smart home and IoT devices.
  • Assisting clients with connecting and troubleshooting smart home products.
  • Providing clients with basic software tutorials.
  • Assisting clients with warranty and troubleshooting inquiries.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in PC imaging and configuration.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware and network issues.
  • Aptitude for assisting clients in understanding technology.
  • Willingness to learn on the job.
  • In-depth knowledge of smart devices and their systems.
  • Experience in smart device installation and hardware diagnostics.
  • Physical ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and lift items independently.
  • Familiarity with general construction and electrical principles.
