Position Overview

Are you skilled in mechanical tasks and enjoy hands-on activities? Do you prefer a flexible work schedule and the ability to work independently while having the support of a team? The Equipment Service Technician is responsible for delivering efficient on-site preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, equipment modifications, and installation assistance on intricate mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electronic systems, primarily within a healthcare setting that demands strict compliance and timely execution.

Individuals with backgrounds in HVAC repair, mechanics, maintenance, refrigeration, boilers, chillers, equipment repair, automotive repair, aviation repair, plumbing, and electrical work often excel in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct fundamental troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of STERIS and competitor equipment, systems, and components.
  • Effectively manage time by prioritizing Customer and business requirements and schedules independently to complete preventative maintenance, service calls, warranty tasks, equipment installations, field upgrades, and other responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Technical Support, Engineering, and Service Contract Management) to escalate issues as needed and utilize advanced technology platforms to fulfill compliance requirements and resolve and document troubleshooting challenges.
  • Provide Customers with information, pricing, and repair alternatives. With management support, develop relationships with Sales to enhance Customer experience and identify revenue opportunities.
  • Offer support to various locations based on service agreements and Customer needs.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience, including at least 2 years of mechanical or technical experience (mechanical, electrical, HVAC, automotive, IT).
  • Experience in Customer and team engagement.
  • Basic computer proficiency (MS Windows/email, navigation, mobile applications, data entry into multiple systems).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to meet all necessary background and physical assessment requirements to obtain and maintain vendor credentialing.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including potential overnight travel as needed.
  • Ability to establish an effective home office setup (high-speed internet, suitable workspace, secure company-owned equipment and information).
