Job Summary

As the Assistant Director of Division Business Ops, you will play a critical role in managing the daily financial, human resources/payroll, and business operations for multiple complex business units within a division. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Houston Journal of Health Law & Policy team and contribute to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage the activities of the department in establishing university auxiliary contracts, procurement operations, human resources, and payroll operations to ensure compliance with state and university guidelines.
  2. Conduct research and financial analyses, prepare management reports for various directors, executive directors, and vice presidents.
  3. Supervise the work activities of staff responsible for the financial, human resources/payroll, and business functions.
  4. Develop plans to streamline account reconciliations, work order, and billing functions, and construction accounting operations.
  5. Oversee the development and monitoring of budgets and account reconciliations.
  6. Oversee the development of Board of Regents and Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board reports and agenda items.
  7. Serve as the business administrator, representing business partners ensuring compliance with applicable university policies and procedures.
  8. Assist in the development of policies and procedures.
  9. Serve as the liaison for the department/division within the University community.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience. Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical, or professional discipline, or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4-year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.

Experience: Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience. Position is eligible for Alternative Work Arrangements (AWA). Experience will be considered in lieu of education. Education will be considered in lieu of experience.
