Position Overview

Grays Harbor College is seeking a passionate and dedicated faculty member to join our team as an instructor for Adult High School Completion (HS+) and GED programs. This role is pivotal in providing educational opportunities to adult learners, enabling them to achieve their high school diploma and prepare for the GED.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging instruction in Adult Basic Education, focusing on reading, writing, and mathematics.
  • Design, implement, and assess curricula tailored to the needs of adult learners.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance program offerings and student pathways.
  • Provide academic advising and support to students, fostering their educational and professional growth.
  • Participate in program evaluation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Attend required training to ensure compliance with educational standards in a correctional setting.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess:
  • A Bachelor's degree in secondary education or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in adult education.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching adult learners or working with historically marginalized populations.
  • Familiarity with curriculum development and revision processes.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional qualifications that would enhance a candidate's application include:
  • A Master's degree in education or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience with culturally responsive teaching methodologies.
  • Knowledge of current standards in HS and GED instruction.
