Position Overview:

As a key member of our Transportation Structures team, you will play a vital role in bridging the gap between innovative design and practical application. Our projects range from local infrastructure improvements to landmark bridge designs that enhance community connectivity.

Your Role:

The Transportation Structures Engineer will collaborate on a variety of projects, both large and small. This position offers a unique opportunity to hone your skills in evaluating, selecting, and engineering systems or products tailored to project needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Apply relevant design criteria for both minor and major bridge design and load rating tasks.
  2. Prepare comprehensive engineering project documentation, including design calculations for specific assignments.
  3. Create high-quality contract documents (plans, specifications, and estimates) for the construction of various structures, including bridges and retaining walls.
  4. Conduct field inspections to assess structural integrity and conditions.
  5. Identify emerging technical issues and initiate appropriate corrective measures.
  6. Utilize industry-standard software for structural design and analysis, including STAAD and AutoCAD.
  7. Engage in cross-training opportunities within related civil engineering disciplines such as roadway and geotechnical design.

Qualifications:

Skills and Expertise:
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, demonstrating sound judgment and creativity.
  • Proactive in task management and coordination with design team members.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and legal requirements in various jurisdictions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Developing skills in effectively discussing project-related issues.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineering license in the relevant state, or the ability to obtain it within a specified timeframe.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in transportation-related roadway, structures, and bridge design.
