Construction Estimator Job Description

Blue Line Drywall & Builders is seeking a skilled Construction Estimator to join our team. As a Construction Estimator, you will play a crucial role in supporting our Senior Estimators and preconstruction teams in reviewing project plans, requirements, and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble accurate and well-organized estimates and proposals for Stipulated Price, Design-Build, and Construction/Project Management formatted projects.
  • Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine the scope of work and required contents of the estimate.
  • Organize subcontractors' quotations, negotiate to ensure quotes meet contract documents, and issue proper documented purchase orders.
  • Complete budgeting and scheduling for projects and track progress, identifying any potential risks.
  • Maintain relationships with subcontractors and clients.
  • Communicate with Business Development regarding new and current projects.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Engineering knowledge, including procedures, equipment, and project designing.
  • Excellent mathematics skills.
  • Basic knowledge of building and construction.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Ability to work well individually and as part of a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proven self-starter with demonstrated ability to make decisions, multi-task, and meet strict deadlines.
  • High degree of professionalism.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Position may include working outside of normal working hours as necessary.
  • Ability to travel to construction sites as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in construction estimating.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field (Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management).
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and estimating software (i.e., Planswift, OST).
