At O'Connor Construction Management (OCMI, Inc.), we're seeking a highly skilled Regional Cost Manager to join our team in Northern California. As a key member of our estimating team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality cost estimating services across various market sectors, managing the estimating workload for the region, and supporting business development efforts.
Key Responsibilities- Create detailed cost estimates, studies, analyses, and evaluations at all levels of project development, independently or as part of an external or internal team.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop estimators in the region, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality work products.
- Maintain high-quality estimating services and client satisfaction by fostering strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
- Oversee the scheduling and coordination of regional estimating workload and team management tasks, including quality control, proposal fees, and task coordination.
- Ensure timely and accurate work products and deliverables to clients in accordance with QA/QC procedures.
- Conduct detailed reviews of all documentation and develop comprehensive cost estimates/models that communicate clients' project and strategic goals.
- Collaborate with clients to provide customized cost estimating solutions and support business development efforts by developing, promoting, and maintaining client relationships.
- Regularly review and communicate to management estimating resource levels and forecast changes in need of staff based upon future forecasted workload.
- Provide timely and accurate updates on project progress, milestones, and any changes in status.
- Organize and participate in routine meetings to discuss project developments, address concerns, and align on objectives.
- Minimum of 10 years of cost estimating and management experience for construction/engineering projects.
- Cost consultancy experience is highly desirable.
- Expertise in preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for various vertical construction/engineering projects, including conceptual estimating, take-offs, change order review/reconciliation, value engineering solutions, and benchmarking.
- Ability to understand and accurately interpret construction documents at all levels of design.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Proficiency in cost estimating software (e.g., On Screen Takeoff (OST), Destini, or similar) and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, or a related field is preferred.
