Collins Machine Works is a leading manufacturer of precision machinery, seeking highly skilled and experienced machinists to join our team.

Job Summary:

We are currently looking for a Senior Precision Machinist Specialist to perform high-level machining tasks, ensuring the production of precision parts and instruments. This role requires expertise in manual machine operation, setup, and adjustment, as well as proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments
  • Set up, adjust, and operate manual machines to achieve high-quality components
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to ensure accurate production
  • Machine parts out of metal with precision and accuracy
  • Select, align, secure, and remove holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines safely and efficiently
  • Determine the proper tools required to perform given tasks
Preferred Skills:
  • Familiarity with heavy-duty horizontal lathes, milling machines, horizontal boring mills, vertical turning lathes, planers, grinders, drill presses, hydraulic presses, band saws, and portable tools
  • Proficiency in turning, drilling, tapping, boring, honing, polishing machine processes
  • Experience with large part machining (ship propeller shafting, ship steering gear, etc.) and in-place machining is preferred

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3-5 years of related experience preferred
  • Effective communication skills in English, both verbally and written
  • Able to interpret technical instructions and communicate effectively with colleagues
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel
Work Environment:

The work environment at Collins Machine Works is moderate to high noise level. The employee will be expected to spend time using computers and other machinery.
