Job Overview

Vote Blue is seeking a seasoned leader to manage our canvass operations in Lansing, MI. As a Voter Engagement Director, you will be responsible for recruiting, training, and managing a team of local canvassers to mobilize voters in critical areas throughout the state.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to reach voters in assigned locations
  • Manage a team of 15-40 hourly staff who will be mobilizing voters
  • Set goals and hold staff accountable
  • Train and provide ongoing motivation and support to staff
  • Identify, promote, and train a leadership team
  • Build a diverse team where staff feel respected, while fostering a culture of equity and justice
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure integrity of the work
  • Go in the field yourself a few days per week to canvass, train staff, and help drive office goals
  • Maintain a healthy and safe working environment for all staff
  • Manage administrative duties, including reporting data, record keeping, processing payroll, and distribution of materials

Requirements:

  • Leadership experience, ability to motivate a large team

  • Extreme attention to detail and a proven ability to instill that quality in others.
  • Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong passion for community organizing and fostering civic engagement.

  • Ability to work long hours, including evenings and weekends.
