Overview

Join Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a Mammography and Radiology Technologist 1
Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a dedicated Mammography and Radiology Technologist 1 to become part of the Medical Imaging Mammography Screening team. This position plays a vital role in delivering quality imaging services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine screening mammography, diagnostic radiography/fluoroscopy, and various medical imaging techniques while adhering to safety protocols for radiation protection.
  • Responsibilities include:
  • processing and fulfilling requisitions,
  • inputting pertinent information into the Radiology Information System (RIS),
  • preparing examination equipment and patients for specific imaging procedures,
  • operating advanced imaging technology, including the processing and storage of acquired data,
  • monitoring patients throughout procedures and ensuring the functionality and cleanliness of imaging rooms.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Certification from the CAMRT.
  • Successful completion of CAMRT Mammography 1 or an equivalent program.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of recent experience in Mammography and general radiographic procedures.

Skills & Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of the standards and guidelines for Medical Imaging professionals set by the CAMRT and relevant national associations.
  • Proficient in safe operational practices with diagnostic imaging equipment.
  • Ability to perform radiographic and screening mammography examinations in line with departmental protocols.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based practices related to the imaging modality.
  • Understanding of organizational policies, procedures, and standards of care, including safe operational practices.
  • Knowledge of research methodologies.
  • Experience with PACS/Radiology Information Systems, digital imaging, and data archiving.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, colleagues, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Competence in prioritizing workload in cooperation with team members.
  • Proficiency in CPR techniques.
  • Computer literacy with current applications, including client care information systems.
  • Physical capability to fulfill the job responsibilities.

The working hours, including days off and work locations, may vary based on operational needs and collective agreements. Successful candidates may need to undergo a Criminal Records Review Check.
