Job Summary: Responsible for the installation and removal of molds and fixtures for molding machines. Ensures the upkeep of molds and molding equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adheres to established procedures for the removal of molds from machines, which includes:
- Disconnection of water and hydraulic lines, removal of nozzles and heater blocks, unclamping/unfastening molds, and safely hoisting molds from the machine.
- Follows set protocols for installing molds into machines, including:
- Connecting water and hydraulic lines, installing nozzles and heater blocks, and securely clamping/fastening molds.
- Cleans and repairs molding nozzles.
- Wires heater bands together.
- Installs and/or removes inserts for molds as scheduled.
- Rigs molds for both removal from and installation into machines.
- Transports molds within the facility using cranes and forklifts.
- Maintains cleanliness, safety, and functionality of mold components and tools.
Qualifications:
- Education/Certification: Forklift certification, crane certification, authorized lockout/tag out certification, and training in hand and power tools for torch and various hand tools.
- Experience: Previous experience in changing molds in plastic machines is beneficial. Torch experience is preferred, along with bench grinder experience.
Physical and Environmental Demands:
- Physical demands include walking, standing, climbing, bending, stretching, and using hands and fingers to hold, grasp, push, and lift items. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Environmental conditions involve primarily indoor work, with frequent exposure to hot equipment. Job responsibilities may involve regular exposure to oil and grease.
