Position Details

This is a part-time role as a Canning Technician I, where your key responsibilities will include:

  • Setting up and dismantling equipment.
  • Ensuring compliance with Clean-In-Place procedures that align with Iron Heart standards.
  • Maintaining a steady flow of cans to the canning line.

Iron Heart fosters a culture of learning and growth within the industry, offering on-site training and support throughout your journey. The starting pay for this position is $18/hr.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transporting and setting up/taking down heavy machinery using a box truck for canning operations.
  • Conducting chemical mixing and sanitation procedures.
  • Setting up and troubleshooting equipment, including labelers and date coders.
  • Performing consistent quality checks.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of equipment to meet IHC standards.
  • Understanding and adhering to company policies and regulations.
  • Collaborating effectively with fellow technicians and brewery personnel.
  • Safely operating heavy packaging machinery.
  • Conducting repairs and maintenance on packaging machinery.
  • Adhering to mandatory break schedules.
Supervisory Responsibilities

No supervisory duties are associated with this position.

Required Skills and Abilities
  • Mechanical understanding.
  • Ability to learn on-site.
  • Multitasking capabilities.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Physical capability to handle 150-lb. pallets, maneuver an 800-lb. canning line, and remain on your feet for extended shifts.
  • Flexibility in scheduling, as weekly tasks may vary based on brewery operations.
  • A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a positive attitude are essential.
  • Quick learning aptitude, as processes and procedures are continually evolving.
  • Knowledge of beer, with home brewing or brewery experience being advantageous.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A four-year college degree is preferred but not mandatory.
Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this role, employees may encounter moving mechanical parts and various environmental conditions, including noise and temperature fluctuations.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand or walk continuously.
  • Capability to bend, squat, climb stairs, and lift frequently.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to push/pull up to 800 pounds on wheels.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion tasks to support canning line operations.
