The Job

We are seeking a Recreation Assistant to join our team in Wakefield, MA. As a Recreation Assistant, you will assist the program lead in running various recreation programs, including social outings, arts and crafts, sports, fitness, dance, swimming, bowling, cooking, and more.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Supervise participants, including small groups and individuals, providing 1:1 ratio if needed, and some personal care responsibilities.
  2. Develop and implement recreation programs in conjunction with existing community resources, such as the YMCA, school systems, churches/temples, city recreation departments, and Special Olympic programs.
  3. Establish and maintain positive relationships with individuals, families, and community partners.
  4. Take leadership responsibility in the event of an emergency, which may include calling emergency services or contacts, and providing transportation.
  5. Collaborate with the program lead to ensure seamless execution of programs and services.

Requirements

  • At least one year of experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities or experience in a recreation or sports activity leadership position required.
  • A valid Driver's license, reliable transportation, and acceptable driving record required.
  • Must pass company background and reference checks.
