Role Summary and Requirements

As a Certified Surgical Technician, you will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, playing a crucial role in delivering safe and effective patient care in the operating room. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Exhibiting the practical and technical skills necessary for the surgical technician role as outlined by the Association of Surgical Technologists.
  • Preparing the surgical suite by organizing supplies, equipment, and instruments.
  • Maintaining surgical asepsis while handling instruments and materials.
  • Facilitating the turnover of operating rooms between procedures, including waste disposal and equipment cleaning.
  • Setting up the procedure room for the next day, ensuring all necessary items are available.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program as per facility and state regulations.
  • Certification as a Surgical Technician.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in an operating room environment, preferably in an ambulatory surgery center.
  • Valid BCLS Certification upon employment; online certification is not acceptable.
