We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Surgical Technologist to join our team at Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures and providing exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of the sterile field during surgical procedures.
- Coordinate with the circulating perioperative nurse to ensure seamless communication and execution of surgical plans.
- Prepare and maintain equipment and supplies according to manufacturer's recommendations and established protocols.
- Monitor the sterile field during procedures and take corrective action as needed to maintain asepsis.
- Prepare medications and solutions for use during procedures under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
- Maintain accountability for instruments, sponges, and sharps throughout the surgical procedure.
- Consistently follow safety procedures and protocols for handling sharp instruments, powered equipment, hazardous chemicals, and lasers.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Graduate of a surgical technologist program or 1-year experience in a hospital setting as a surgical technologist.
- Non-certified: No license, certificate, or registration required for the Sterile Processing Department. All other departments: No license, certificate, or registration required if they meet the below provision.
- Certified: Must have and maintain one of the following certifications: CST – Certified Surgical Technologist through the National Board for Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or TS-C- Tech in Surgery, Certified through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
