Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

BHS Corrugated North America is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Knoxville, TN.

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and standardization of machinery across our facilities. The goal is to achieve the highest product quality by developing machinery and processing methods. The successful candidate will manage capital expenditure projects, coordinate with contractors and vendors, and assist with manufacturing processes and controls to ensure safe, quality products and meet customer and company objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Reinforce and support a safety culture, ensuring compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Participate in accident investigations, provide root cause analysis, and suggest solutions for safety concerns.
  • Drive engineering controls to address safety concerns and hazards.
  • Continuously work to reduce hazardous waste generation and exposure to industrial hazards.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to achieve desired quality results, conserve consumables, and maximize product life.
  • Ensure all processes have safety hazard assessments completed and published.
  • Assist with product technical drawings, tooling specifications, and processing specifications for the manufacturing floor.
  • Provide training for production leadership and technical support personnel as required.
  • Drive continuous improvements in processing for quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Support Lean and 5S standards for the manufacturing floor.
  • Maintain machinery performance and reliability, ensuring highest availability and implementing industry best practices.
  • Establish and develop machinery documentation, utilizing data from the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
Requirements:
  • Technical degree: two years required; five or more years of manufacturing experience highly desired.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of engineering principles and specifications, including codes and certifications.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to respond to unplanned downtime situations.
  • Ability to stand for at least 45 minutes at a time and lift 35 pounds at waist level.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and computer design software (AutoCad experience preferred).
  • SAP experience preferred.
Ideal Candidate:
  • Experience in machine shop environments.
  • Experience with precision grinding, manual lathes, welding, and precision measurement systems.
