About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer/Estimator to join our team at Shambaugh & Son L.P., a leading provider of mechanical and electrical construction, facilities services, and energy infrastructure. As a key member of our Design-Build team, you will play a crucial role in the assembly of designs, estimates, and ultimate construction of food manufacturing facilities and stand-alone industrial refrigeration projects across the United States.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with clients, outside design consultants, and internal engineers to develop and procure electrical design plans, specifications, and narratives.
  • Complete conceptual and detailed take-offs of electrical scopes to be incorporated into the overall project budget or Guaranteed Maximum Price.
  • Assist management with the identification, prequalification, and bidding of electrical scopes of work, as needed.
  • Ensure appropriate construction materials are incorporated into designs and conduct thorough reviews of consultant designs and subcontractor/vendor shop drawings to ensure design intent is met.
  • Provide technical advice to other team members and assist project management staff in obtaining local planning and/or regulatory approval for electrical scopes.
  • Monitor and inspect work undertaken by subcontractors and/or our own trades.
Requirements
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree/experience.
  • 5+ years of work experience in electrical design.
  • Experience in the design and construction of industrial, food manufacturing, and/or cold box (refrigerated) facilities.
  • Prefer a Professional Engineer license in Indiana or Idaho.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction methods, materials, and codes.
  • Ability to assemble bid set (RFP) drawing packages.
  • Ability to liaise with third-party electrical design professionals, as required.
  • Ability to liaise with professionals from other disciplines.
  • Experience with subcontractor management.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Good communication skills and ability to communicate with customers on remote sites (infrequent travel required).
