About the Company

Our client is a fast-growing, privately held hotel management company with over 20 select service properties in California and several additional hotel projects in the pipeline. They are located in North County, San Diego, and are seeking a Payroll Manager to join their team.

Job Summary

The Payroll Manager is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of the bi-weekly payroll. This role works directly with General Managers and the Corporate team to ensure an efficient and accurate payroll process.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Accurately process the bi-weekly payroll for all hotel locations.
  2. Provide guidance related to Federal, State, and local payroll compliance, including tax withholding and garnishments.
  3. Lead the key annual audits and process termination and manual checks.
  4. Identify recommendations to scale processes to enhance payroll operational efficiency, including the design and implementation of internal controls and maintain payroll policies and procedures.
  5. Maintain payroll documentation, ensuring adherence to company policy and applicable local, state, and federal laws.
  6. Prepare and process all manual payroll check requests.
  7. Process wage garnishments.
  8. Research and reconcile any payroll-related discrepancies.
  9. Create, run, and distribute payroll-related reports.
  10. Conduct payroll-related audits.
  11. Maintain payroll files.
  12. Train new General Managers in Payroll process.
  13. Create new Payroll SOPs and recommend best practices.
  14. Communicate any Payroll issues to Operations team and General Managers.
  15. Maintain the Payroll Scorecard.
  16. Work closely with Accounting to resolve any discrepancies.
  17. Work closely with HR and Operations team.
  18. Reconcile monthly billing statements from insurance providers, resolve discrepancies, review bills for accuracy, and code for payment.
  19. Administer COBRA plan in collaboration with the third-party vendor.
  20. Manage 401(k) retirement savings plan.
  21. Ensure employee data is accurate in system.
  22. Assist with the coordination of the annual open enrollment process.
  23. Prepare and distribute year-end W-2s and W-2cs ensuring compliance with applicable labor laws.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field of study.
  • 2-4 years applicable Payroll/HR/Benefits experience.
  • Experience utilizing Paycom is highly desired.
  • Consistently demonstrates an adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail is required.
  • Maintains a positive and professional attitude and demeanor at all times.
  • Effective presenting information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Capable of managing and prioritizing multiple tasks and projects.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
