Position Summary

We are looking for a Sales Manager for Heavy Machinery who will oversee the marketing and sales of both new and pre-owned refuse, sewer, recycling, hydro-excavation, and street sweeping equipment. This role demands a commitment to achieving specified sales targets while adhering to established performance benchmarks. The designated territory encompasses Southeast Michigan, specifically targeting Oakland, Wayne, and Macomb Counties, presenting significant growth opportunities for the ideal candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and sustain robust customer relationships through systematic sales visits and effective communication.
  • Strategically plan and execute travel within the assigned territory to connect with clients.
  • Utilize demonstration equipment as frequently as possible and, if necessary, obtain a CDL to transport large machinery between customer locations.
  • Leverage the Customer Relationship Management system in alignment with company protocols.
  • Identify potential clients and formulate strategic action plans to convert them into customers.
  • Adhere to the established sales process from initial discovery through to closing deals.
  • Engage in the inspection and preparation of condition reports, including capturing necessary photographs of trade-in units.
  • Follow up diligently on all customer inquiries from both external and internal sources.
  • Participate in promotional activities for products sourced from various channels.
  • Initiate and manage quotations and orders in accordance with company policies and standards.
  • Address and resolve customer issues or complaints to ensure satisfaction.
  • Support account management and assist in the collection of outstanding payments as needed.
  • Contribute to the evaluation of any applicable credits or returns.
  • Enhance vendor relationships by actively participating in relevant programs and collaborating with their representatives.
  • Engage in training sessions sponsored by the company and vendors to improve sales techniques and technical knowledge.
  • Prepare action plans, summaries, and reports as required by management.
  • Continuously expand knowledge of the territory, market dynamics, and competitive landscape.
  • Participate in local industry trade association events and meetings.

Qualifications

  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Valid CDL Class B license or the capability to obtain one in the state of residence.
  • Demonstrated experience in industrial sales is essential.
  • Prior experience in sales of industrial refuse, sewer, recycling, or sweeping equipment is preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Adhere to company policies regarding the operation and maintenance of company vehicles.
