Lakeland is actively seeking a Procurement Specialist. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in contracting and purchasing to secure the materials and services necessary for producing high-quality, high-performance protective garments that serve and protect workers in sectors such as aerospace, chemical manufacturing, construction, and healthcare. This position will also require collaboration with key departments to ensure that services and materials are procured in the most cost-effective, efficient, and strategic manner.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Tactical Procurement
    • Secure optimal pricing and lead times for raw materials.
    • Create purchase orders based on requisitions received.
    • Maintain comprehensive purchasing documentation.
    • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers to achieve cost-effective procurement.
    • Optimize inventory levels to fulfill project requirements while minimizing surplus.
    • Monitor and manage procurement expenses in line with established budgets.
  • Supplier Management
    • Oversee open supplier orders.
    • Expedite and track goods as necessary.
    • Utilize supplier relationship management skills to ensure compliance with performance and contractual agreements.
    • Assess potential suppliers for qualification.
    • Maintain accurate supplier documentation.
    • Evaluate supplier capabilities, conduct assessments, and address any performance concerns.
    • Contribute directly to team objectives and business goals.
  • Functional Interactions
    • Collaborate closely with Product Management, Product Development, Quality, and Sales to ensure procured materials meet specified quality standards and align with project timelines.
    • Ensure adherence to relevant regulations, industry standards, and ethical practices.
    • Identify and mitigate risks associated with procurement.
    • Ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials according to project schedules.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to engage effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Independent decision-making capabilities.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of procurement experience preferred.
  • CSCP Certification preferred.
