We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Access Specialist to join our team at UNC Health Care. As a Patient Access Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring that patient access processing is performed in accordance with procedure and documented in a timely and accurate manner.
Key Responsibilities- Verify key ADT information (insurance verification, patient and guarantor demographics, etc.) to ensure patient safety, charging, coding, insurance processing, and billing accuracy.
- Schedule all new and follow-up patient appointments as required, and attempt to reschedule cancellations whenever possible.
- Complete and document all governmental, regulatory, financial, and contractual forms in accordance with procedure.
- Utilize price estimation tools to provide accurate estimates to patients.
- Meet departmental targets for up-front collections, including deposits, estimated amounts due, co-pays, and/or prior balances.
- Participate in departmental QA by utilizing system work queues, making personal efforts to reduce individual errors, and making corrections.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Two years of customer service and/or clerical experience
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and procedures
- A dynamic and inclusive work environment
- Competitive hourly rate of $25.86 per hour
